Sunset Residents Getting a Little Uppity

Not supposed to be happy with peripheral neighborhood

Historically, people who lived in the Sunset knew their place, which was in their driveways washing a 2017 Honda Accord. But now suddenly they’re all like, "I live in the Sunset," and the tone implied by those italics is making other neighborhoods uncomfortable.

Terrence Boller, of Cole Valley, says he’s not taking any guff from anyone in a Period Revival on 41st and Noriega. "Just because you’ve got a bunch of great new restaurants and are enjoying increased vibrancy across the board," he said, "doesn’t mean you get to imply that you’re having a better time than inhabitants of a place that is cuter aesthetically."

Noe Valley's Linda Chellers agrees. "We’ve always dismissed the Sunset as a gloomy internal suburb where everyone shops at Safeway," Chellers explained, saying that it was upsetting to think that conditions had improved. "I guess I'll have to look down on the Excelsior."
