Pacific Heights Referred to as "Community"

Offensive comment causes firestorm on social media

A Pacific Heights man who described his neighborhood as a "community "is under fire this week, with people who own homes in the area denying the allegation – and saying they resent the implication that they might be there for one another. "Are you getting a welcoming vibe from this place? Mi-casa-su-casa?" Read one response. "The only things tying this cohort together are ongoing litigation and staffing referrals," said another.

Other commenters pointed to Pacific Heights’ lack of public culture – proof, they say, that they want nothing to do with each other. "No corner stores, no cute bistro up the street, let alone block parties or garage sales," said Trish Wallings. "Even ‘neighborhood’ is a stretch." Reluctantly brought together by the controversy, Pacific Heights homeowners say they do share at least one proximity-based ethos. "We’d prefer not to be referred to at all, thanks," added Wailings.
