Erica Boisters stopped in her tracks when she noticed that the place in the Lower Haight where she once got her hair cut and colored was now occupied by an business that provided those services under a new name. "Looks like they got rid of the classic employees as well," Boisters said aloud, taking note of the utter strangers who’ve taken over the business. The worst part was not knowing whether this new shop would be a pale imitation of the one it displaced, or a potential upgrade. "A legacy definitely hangs in the balance here," said Boisters, growing wistful. "This neighborhood is just changing so fast," she added. "At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the dive bars remodeled their bathrooms."
